E-Books helpful for Large Families |
Home Grown Business, How to Start and Run a Successful Home Business While Homeschooling is an e-book compiled by Jesse and Crystal Paine. Crystal and her husband Jesse were both homeschooled and are now raising their own family. Crystal started her first business when she was 15 and has written 3 books in addition to this one. She has a website, biblicalwomanhoodonline.com, and has compiled information there on home businesses. Home Grown Business is a compilation of stories written by home business owners that are also homeschoolers. The families range from small to a couple of families with 11 children and a story by a single-parent homeschooler. The businesses are of all sorts also. From landscaping to publishing to retail and everything in between. One underlying theme that I saw in these stories was Gods leading in how these businesses were started and operate. The writers were realistic in telling the reader how life truly is with running a business and balancing it with home and family. In spite of the glimpses of reality that they gave, their stories were still very inspirational. Many of these businesses grew so large that the father came home from corporate America to run the home business. They recounted the blessing that these businesses have been to the education of their children in spite of the tough balancing act. Story after story told of homeschool graduates who either joined their parents business or started their own business because of what they learned while growing up immersed in the entrepreneurial world. Included in the stories were lots of hints and tips of running a home business. In our culture of two-income families living contrarily can be tough. One way that these families have conquered that challenge is by making their own income instead of relying on someone else to provide it for them. The writers talked about the freedoms, the challenges, and their total reliance on God for direction in their businesses. Its definitely a book that I want around for my older children to be reading. The only downside is that its an e-book. Some people might like that just fine but I really dont care to read for long times on the computer. My eyes cant take it. I like to read at night in my bed. So I printed the book out, all 84 pages of it. There arent any graphics so it didnt eat up my color ink. However, the chapters are each business story and are relatively short so you could easily read one chapter at a sitting at the computer and not wear out your eyes. Regardless of how you read it, Home Grown Business is a good read and if youre considering any type of home business or already have one, its well worth reading how other people handle certain situations they find themselves in because of running a home business.
